GOD’S EYES ARE ON THE SPARROWS AND HE WATCHES ALL OF HIS BIRDS
Dedicated to the one I love, My Lord God, Per His request:
Listen to the birds that sing on budding branches,
Listen for their songs that proclaim a bright new day
Listen to the melodies they joyously compose,
Rejoicing in our God, is the message they convey.
When we were little, and barely able to walk, even before we had a chance to explore this great big world, we spied those small flying creatures perched outside our bedroom windows. We could hear their beautiful early morning melodies in concert each morning as they would sing just as we were waking up. Those songs, however, were not only meant to announce the beginning of a new day, but they were also, as the Lord has shown us recently, meant to praise Him as the Creator of all life.
Each bird, large and small, has its own specific, well-rehearsed refrain that it plays for our heavenly Father every morning. From the bluebirds to the cardinals, from the sparrows to the turtledoves, from the starlings to the robins, each one has a song that is quite unique. Each bird seems to instinctively know what part it is to play in this delightful symphonic orchestra. It is a wonderful orchestra, which holds outdoor recitals quite regularly throughout the year.
We know that the Lord must receive immense pleasure when listening to each bird’s distinctive voice as it serenades Him with praise and appreciation for His watchful eyes over them. We too enjoy the beautiful musical compositions that our tiny feathered friends bring to our ears. All of us look forward to the sparrow’s gay and happy songs as winter begins its hasty retreat, making way for the crocuses to poke their sleepy heads out from under the cold hard ground.
As the rays of the sun get warmer these darling winged creatures sing of the season’s rebirth while they are nurturing their newly hatched young. Also we could not forget the songs of the chickadee which are perfuse and gay, as they fly in from their distant getaways where they’ve waited out winter’s long and biting reign.
It is to our dear heavenly Father that birds dedicate their songs to. It is for our Lord God that they rejoice at the dawning of each new day. He has given them the delightful gift of singing as newborn angels in the boughs of the cedar trees, as the sun opens its sleepy eyes. As they awaken every morning their voices are bold, uninhibited, and unafraid to praise Him and tell Him of their joy in just being alive and being a creation of the Holy One of Israel. They rejoice in how wonderfully He has made them. For their freedom is unmatched to effortlessly soar through the skies and settle in whatever area and tree that they chose. So they rejoice each morning with praises and love to our dear heavenly Father. They are His dedicated and devoted faithful choir on this earth.
How wonderful it would be if all of God’s children contributed their voices to the backdrop of songs that the birds sing each new day. Imagine a heavenly chorus of voices permeating the moisture laden morning air. What would the sound be like if billions of people arising at dawn, in house after house, in town after town, broke out in overlapping songs of praise to our Lord God?
All of God’s children would be represented in this international choir as they took their first step outside to greet the new day’s arrival. Their songs would be sweet and melodic, containing passion and tenderness directly from their souls, expressing their hearts’ yearnings for God and His Son, Jesus. Continuous melodies would be heard, as each town in each country greeted the new day.
Just as each bird has a different sound and a different melody to sing, each individual would be heard in his own tone, sound, and inflection, on every street, in every town, in every country at the start of each new day. Songs of love and adoration would echo up into the heavens from this little planet called Earth. The outspoken praises of the Lord’s faithful children would continue without end all around the world.
