Dear Father God,
Leaves of fall, like a speckled quilt,
Slowly patching over the greens of summer.
Welcoming the cool of the autumn air,
A time to be immersed in winter wear.
This is the season of preparation,
This is the time before the the winds commence.
A time for closing doors that have no merit,
For releasing stresses, that make no sense.
So let worldly concerns be erased from our souls,
That happiness and love would be a flood upon our hearts.
Briefly last night occurred that feeling of bliss,
A momentary whisper, a sweet and gentle kiss,
A moment in time, You brought me close to Your side,
Far above the stars on that heavenward climb.
If only the worries would cease to be.
If only sadness would permanently flee, .
If only the emotions that bind us up in chains,
Would slide off our backs, and to be washed by the rain.
But that is the challenge from You, dear Lord
To throw off the world with the truth of Your sword,
This world like a cover, dark, and opaque,
Little light gets through the weave that it makes.
But You made a small opening in its fabric last night,
And a tiny drop of joy caught me with Your glorious light.
Love You dearly,
Deborah
